brown rice

This is hardly a recipe, but I note it here becasue I've spent years hating brown rice because it was nasty and dry and poorly-cooked, and finally today figured out how to cook it so it's not terrible -- in fact, it's really good.

Every kind of brown rice you buy will probably be different. This worked well on the brown rice with PLU 6687 from Whole Foods that I got yesterday (short-grain brown rice? I forget; I'll look it up).

  • brown rice
  • twice as much water as rice

Bring water to a boil. Put in rice, and decrease heat to a simmer. Simmer for 30 minutes or so, with a lid. Easy! Tastes great, and it's whole-grain.
